Celebrate the Dog Mail Art Exhibit 2012

In June I posted a "call" for mail art for a "Celebrate the Dog" exhibit to coincide with National Dog Day on August 26th. Since then 43 different artists from 14 different countries have sent me over 75 pieces of mailart. They are all so fabulous! My exhibit went up last night at my local public library. It's not a usual artist exhibit with openings and crowds but I still think it's amazing to see all this great mail art on display.

It went from this ...

I'm so happy to have collected all this amazing art and to be able to put it up on display. I thank the W.J. Niederkorn Public Library in Port Washington, Wisconsin for allowing me to use their display case for a month.  I tried to include some envelopes with interesting stamps from other countries.

I thank all the artists who sent me art about dogs. Dogs are loved worldwide!

Note cards

Here are some note cards I made for a swap - using a book page. The book text is the strip down the center. There is Chinese and Thai text. This is collage, some stamping, ink, sewing. The stamp phrases are from a Stampin' Up set as well as the flowers used on the cards and envelopes.

Raisin Boat Chicken Coop

I signed up for the "Netflix" version of rubber stamping through Raisin Boat. So far I'm loving it. My first set is the "Chicken Coop" set. Here is a card I made with it.
My son and I have a joke about living in a chicken shack and still being happy and so when I saw this set, I had to try it out. I signed up for the 2 stamp sets per month and I can send them back and request two new ones. It's a great concept and I'm looking forward to my next sets.

I put out a call for dog related mailart. So far I've received almost 75 items from about 35 people. I'll do a final count this weekend when I set up the exhibit. I'm displaying mailart for National Dog Day at my local public library in Port Washington, Wisconsin. I'll post pics when it's done ...
